Tour de France | Unchained

Netflix documentary series

Last summer I had the opportunity to join Quad Box as producer/director for a brand new Netflix documentary series. Capturing the story of Alpecin-Deceuninck cycling team in their preparation and during the biggest cycling event of the world, the Tour de France. My job was to capture everything that is not seen on the livestream, documenting their story from inside the team. I tried to capture the blood, sweat and tears given by the athletes that ride the biggest and most extreme cycling race in the world. It was a great experience and I am happy to say that I learned a lot.

Thanks to Quad Box for the trust and thanks to Team Alpecin-Deceuninck for letting me capture their story!

The series is available on Netflix worldwide on the 8th of June 2023.

The Seal Mystery

The Cape Fur Seals in South Africa are dying in huge numbers and seal attacks are happening more frequent than ever. Alarmed by these die-offs marine scientists from Sea Search Africa are currently researching the cause of the deaths.

Their ongoing study has already revealed a very concerning issue; domoic acid and harmful algal blooms might have a huge impact on the marine ecosystem around South Africa. Us humans might be the cause of it.

This documentary reveals the beauty of the Cape Fur Seal and shines light on this issue from multiple perspectives.

Dive deep into the world of the Cape Fur Seals with painter and storyteller Theko as he takes us on a spiritual journey to find out what is killing the Cape Fur Seals.

This documentary is still in production.

Hack the Planet

In this documentary we follow Tim and Thijs, who dedicate their lives to deploying their technology in Gabon in an effort to help save the African forest elephant population which is on the brink of extinction. If the forest elephant would go extinct, the African rainforest will soon follow, which would be a major blow in the global fight against climate change. We see them developing and testing their systems in the Netherlands and once finished they make an effort to deploy their system in Lope, Gabon. We see them work closely with the rangers and the local community and we get to know the rangers that dedicate their lives to the protection of wildlife.

The ultimate question is: does their system work? Or do they have to get back to the drawing board to make a real change?

This documentary is currently in post-production.
